I wish someone had told me a few things before I launched my author website!

An author website is not like a random website with something to sell. There is fan engagement, discussions, up-to-date information about the author and digital personality. This internet persona is a must these days. And a good looking author website can bring more joy.

I won’t talk about myself, but I’ll share the benefits of going online as an author. I’m not referring to publishing eBooks or selling digital copies on Amazon. Instead, I’ll discuss the advantages of having an author website. These are things I wish I knew before launching my own site.

An author website is a powerful tool for promoting your work and connecting with readers. By creating a space where fans can learn more about you and your writing, you can increase your visibility and attract new readers. To make the most of your website, it’s important to focus on your target market and use keywords that will help your site appear in search engine results. This can be a challenge for new website owners, but with some effort and attention to detail, you can create content that resonates with your audience and drives traffic to your site.

When creating an author website, it’s important to consider your target audience and the content you’ll be providing. To ensure your website is visible to your desired audience, incorporate keywords that relate to your core niches, such as sci-fi, mystery, and romance. For those new to website creation, understanding Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be a challenge. However, SEO simply involves creating content that effectively reaches your target market. Consider writing blog posts related to your niche, providing helpful tips, and utilizing social media to promote your website.

Managing the page where customers buy your books is an essential part of successfully running an author website. The more accessible, navigable, and user-friendly your book page is, the more sales you will generate. A few reminders on your book page are integrating a reliable payment system such as PayPal and creating a catalog/slider of other books.

Creating a sales funnel, SEO terminology, and up-to-date information about the author are also important. When you design the author’s website and publish the content, make sure to remember one objective– give people a reason to come back. This can be done by interacting with your fans and staying up to date.

If you are a writer, always remember that all authors are not programmers nor all programmers are authors. This means an author has to hire someone to design content that exhibits the true nature of the author. In my case, the design and programming work was contracted out to Situdio Team. Trust me, a talented group of web developers can provide outstanding outcomes. A website for an author is not like any other website with products for sale. There are interactions with fans, forums, current author information, and a fan club.
